JO CORBEAU

French reggae singer, songwriter of Armenian origin. In 1971 he founded the group Albert and his Poliorcétique fanfare which created the first French rock opera La Malédiction des rockers (by signing a contract with the record label Disques Barclay / Riviera) in 1972. The group performed at the Paris Biennale, at Bobino, at the Fête de l'Humanité, at the Tabarka festival in Tunisia, at the Hippodrome de Pantin, at the radio show Le Pop-Club by José Artur, at Claude Villers or in the television show Pop 2 by Patrice Blanc-Francart. It was at this time that Georges took the name Jo Corbeau.

In 1974, he joined Actuel as an illustrator and screenwriter. At the same time, he also collaborated with the magazine Jazz Hot. Bizot hires him as an actor on his only film La Route, shot in India and Bali, in which Jo performs two songs "When the evening comes" and "Le Rock du plastic".


In 1978, Jo wrote and composed his first reggae title "Reggae Lussac", followed by compositions such as "Rock in Marseille", "Le Rasta de Mourepiane", "L'Eloge de la Folie".


In 1982, Jo joined the West Indian group "Men in the Hill". They recorded the single "Forza Bastia", "Armageddon" an adaptation of Joseph Hill and "Nord Sud Reggae".


In 1983, Jo took part in the "Radio Invisible Internationale" broadcasts and launched the Djibrill Sound System.
In 1985, he created the group Jo Corbeau Illimited Compagnie with he recorded in particular: Savon de Marseille, MDM, Red Rock Reggae, Pnique Internationale.


1986, he records in London J'aime OM with bassist producer Dennis Bovel, conductor of Linton Kwézi Johnson (LKJ), and his Dub Band.


He wrote his first song in the Armenian language in 1989: Arévin Tsaïn (The sound of the sun), which he sang during the Réveil de l'Arménie concert that he organized with the association Azadakroutioun (Liberté Nationale) in support of the victims of Armenian earthquake.


In 1992, he participated in the opening of the first Fiesta des Suds with the rockers of Tarif Réduit and Fun Gabriel and the rappers of BWZ (Futurs Fonky Family) at the opening of the Chaman Urbain concert with the Jah Rock Orchestra.


In 1996, he directed Roi des Rois, the cover of which was created by the Rasta artist Fluoman. At that time, he founded a new group called Dub Olympique. The four-track album Yéba Aïoli was released in 1998 (Kosmic).
